Year 4

Welcome to the Spring Term.  This term will be full of lots of exciting learning experiences.

The Year 4 team this year are:

 Class 9 - Mrs Edwards

Class 10 - Ms Halliwell / Mrs Thomas (Wed)

Mrs Lancaster, Mrs Rhodes and Mrs Unsal will also be supporting the children' learning.

Reading

As a school we love to read and think this is really important.  It is the expectation that children read for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  Please ensure that you sign your child’s reading record each day that they read.  The children must then return their record to school each day in order for their home reading to be recorded. The children can borrow books from their classroom or the school library.

You can access accelerated reader here -

This term our class reader is Varjak Paw by S F Said, Way of Dog by Zana Fraillon and Fintan Fedora the World's Worst Explorer by Clive Goddard.

Times Table Rockstars

This year, there will be a big focus on times tables in Year 4. Your children will have their logins and instructions on how to access the site sent home. There will be lots of exciting battles and challenges set on Times Table Rockstars to ensure learning them is made fun.

You can access TTRS here -

Multiplication Check

The multiplication check for Year 4 happens in the Summer Term. This check consists of 25 questions of times tables up to x12 with 6 seconds to answer the questions.

Please help your child to learn and practise their times tables. Ways to help them could be:

- flashcards

- chanting them forwards and backwards

- quick fire questioning

- using soundcheck on TTRS
