Year 3

We would like to welcome you back to what we know will be an EPIC Year.  We hope you are well and that the children are ready for another busy school year.

The Year 3 team this year are:

 Class 7 - Mr Franks

Class 8 - Mrs O'Donnell

Miss Mayow, Mrs Rhodes and Mr Hughes will also be supporting the children' learning.

Reading

As a school we love to read and think this is really important.  It is the expectation that children read for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  Please ensure that you sign your child’s reading record each day that they read.  The children must then return their record to school each day in order for their home reading to be recorded. The children can borrow books from their classroom or the school library. The children should be completing accelerated reader quizzes, when they have finished their book, and are working towards prizes in their class. As well as this, the children can earn badges for each time they read at home.

You can access accelerated reader here -

Accelerated Reader

This term our class reader is: 'Harley Hitch and the Fossil Mystery' by Vashti Hardy, this exciting story is set in the fictional land of Inventia and blends history and technology. The book will provide a foundation for all of all our writing skills this term.

Times Table Rockstars

Times tables rock stars is an engaging and valuable resource to encourage your children to engage with the times tables. This engagement and subsequent progress is then visible to your class teacher. Your children will have their logins and instructions on how to access the site sent home. There will be lots of exciting battles and challenges set on Times Table Rockstars to ensure learning them is made fun.

You can access TTRS here -

PE

This term, we require the children to bring their PE kits in to stay in school. This should include joggers, shorts or leggings with a house t-shirt or plain t-shirt and a plain hoodie or jacket for when it is cold outside. We will be doing athletics and cricket this term.
