The GLA
WELCOME from the CEO of the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance (GLA)
The GLA is a Trust of schools that was created in 2013 and now comprises 10 primary schools in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Each of our schools is rooted in its community, while benefiting from being part of a wider, outward-looking trust. There are over 2,600 children aged between two to 11 in GLA schools. We have about 400 staff, whose success and wellbeing are a high priority for us.
I started as the CEO of the Trust in September 2023 having previously been the Director of Academies and Head Teacher of one of our founding schools, Rowanfield Junior School. My decision to apply for the role of the CEO at the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance (GLA) can be answered by this quotation:
‘Look at every path closely. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone the question: does this path have a heart?’ Carlos Castaneda, The Teachings of Don Juan.
This pathway for me has a heart – the heart being the children of the GLA.
At the GLA our aim is for every child to leave the Trust feeling proud and with a sense of confidence about their next steps. Proud to have achieved something with their unique talents and confident to develop those talent further in the next chapter of their education.
Our purpose: Within the GLA we are united in the belief that all children deserve equity of education. Our consistent focus each day is to develop our people and direct our resources to that all children are safe, happy and can achieve their potential.
Our values:

We are a community. |
We know that we’re stronger together; sharing high expectations, nurturing and supporting each other to overcome our challenges and celebrate our successes. |
Thank you for your continuing support of our schools.
