Our EPIC vision

EPIC underpins everything we do at Springbank Primary Academy. Through our EPIC vision, we aim to nurture values, skills and attitudes that enable children and adults to develop and respond positively to all opportunities and challenges.

E - Effort - Trying hard, doing your best

P - Participation - Joining in; doing the right thing at the right time

I - Improvement - Motivation to try again; making it the 'best'

C - Celebration - Achievement; 'The feel good factor'

Children who demonstrate aspects of the EPIC ethos (Effort, Participation, Improvement and Celebration) are praised and rewarded in a variety of ways.

The EPIC charts are in all classrooms and are used to support positive behaviour & attitudes to learning. Any child demonstrating Effort, Participation and Improvement will be rewarded by moving up the chart. Children reaching ‘silver’ are awarded house points while children reaching ‘gold’ are  and are then also considered for the Effort Cup or Participation Star award given in the celebration assembly. Children reaching gold also receive a text home to parents.

All adults have a role in the promotion and management of rewards including individual, group or class rewards. Each class has an agreed reward system ranging from verbal and non-verbal praise, stickers, stamps, to certificates and house points. Midday Supervisors support EPIC behaviour through use of stickers and raffle tickets to individual children for positive behaviour and play observed in the playground.

We ask parents to support the school and be EPIC too! We asked our children to tell how their parents could be EPIC and they developed our parent charter which we expect all parents to sign and adhere to.
